Community Hevra Kadisha of Greater Boston
Community Hevra Kadisha of Greater Boston

The Mission of the Community Hevra Kadisha of Greater Boston:

  • To educate the Jewish community on two of the most respected mitzvot in our tradition; Shmira (accompanying a deceased person until burial) and Tahara (ritual washing prior to burial)
  • To train a cadre of caring souls who will perform these mitzvot when needed.

A collaboration among Temple Emunah, Hebrew College and numerous synagogues and minyanim, we welcome the entire community to learn about the vital mitzvot of Shmira and Tahara in an inclusive and supportive setting.

The education and training is guided by Kavod v’Nichum,

(http://www.jewish-funerals.org/) a national organization whose goal is to educate & train local Hevra Kadisha communities.

Support our community education programs through donations and by having your organization join us.
